Promoting conservation of our land and waters through technical resources and education is the overall goal of a Soil & Water Conservation District . On this page, you will find resources as they pertain to residential land users.
A French Drain is a stone filled trench that redirects surface and ground water. There are mulple means of constructing a french drain, inlcuding the use of perforate piple along with stone or engineered french drains. Materials to construct your own french drain system can be found at most home improvement retailers.
French Drain Technical Reference (Clermont SWCD)Blind Inlet Technical Reference (Clermont SWCD)Disconnecting your gutters are a conservation practice that promotoes stormwater inflitration into the ground, while eliminating stormwater from entering a combined sewer systems - still in service in many local municipalities. In addition, residents of Phase II MS4 Communities are required to disconnect downspouts from drains that are connected to the combined sewer system. The process of disconnecting takes mere minutes once you have your tools ready, but that doesn't mean you can't get creative. If landscaping is your hobby, consider creating a rain garden for your downspouts to drain too; combining two conservation projects into one!
